Business Week Most Expensive US Small Town Sagaponack NY

Don’t know why they used Zillow for any info on Sagaponack? Zillow is still waaaaay off in The Hamptons and their info is very unreliable here.

That being said, this is not the first time that Sagaponack has been named America’s Most Expensive Zip Code and it may not be the last.  Sagaponack has been on [...]

Sag Harbor Waterfront June-August KAYAKS INCL Hamptons Sag Harbor 15000 2bd

Sag Harbor / Hamptons cove front house on a very private wooded acre / $15,000 for the period June 1 thru August 31, 2010. Two-plus bedrooms. No group rentals please.

This is not the place for a large group, but it’s perfect for a couple or family.

Here’s a unique combination of location location and location.

Location 1 — Water:

Sits on a branch of Sag Harbor Cove. You can slip one of our kayaks into the water and paddle to Long Beach, into the village or around John Steinbeck’s historic writing gazebo (“Travels with Charley” begins right there).

Location 2 — Woods:

On the water, but in the woods — our two-story house sits in a full acre of trees, with a deck, picnic table by the water, and vegetable garden (fresh basil, herbs, tomatoes, lettuce). Sit on the deck for morning coffee and listen to the cardinals and chickadees, watch the osprey, herons, egrets, swans, geese, ducks and…did we say turtles?

Location 3 — IN the Village of Sag Harbor:

This is not a “secluded house in the woods” off of Route 114; this is a house on the water, in the woods, yet inside the boundaries of Sag Harbor Village — walking distance from the center of town. It’s a leisurely 20 minute stroll on a balmy August evening past the beautiful historic houses of Sag Harbor, over the Otter Pond bridge (see the fluorescent jellyfish!) down Main Street, the Whaling Museum, the John Jermain Library and into town to catch the latest flick at the Sag Harbor Cinema or dinner at the many restaurants lining Main Street. Going into Manhattan? You can walk to the Jitney stop.

With a car, it’s a five-minute drive to the mile long bay beach (great sunsets), 12 minutes to the pristine ocean beaches of Sagaponack, 15 minutes to East Hampton and Southampton Villages.

The house is a modest size (1500 square feet) but bright, with a wall of two-story windows in the great room that face the woods and fill the downstairs with filtered southern sunlight. One master bedroom with Queen bed, two baths, central air conditioning, fireplace, stainless steel kitchen, broadband internet service, 40″ wide screen HDTV with Blue-Ray surround sound DVD, gardens, etc. The house is furnished with English pine antiques, vintage quilts and yard sale finds.

Rent: $15,000 for June 1 through August 31, 2010
